About doug blystone

Doug Blystone has been coaching multiple sports for over 20 years, with major focus on volleyball, basketball and pickleball.  His experience alone speaks for itself.  Doug is a life long learner with a passion to teach athletes, adults,  coaches and any enthusiast of any sport.

 

Volleyball

Doug has earned a ton of awards in his prestigious career as one of the area’s top coaches.  Those awards include:

  • Penn State Abington Jim McGettigan Coach of the Year
  • Nominee for Double-Goal Coach Award
  • USA Volleyball Rober L Lindsay Meritorious Service Award
  • Bucks Mont Chapter awarded Saint Basil Sportsmanship Award
  • Bucks Mont Chapter awarded Saint Basil athlete the Individual Sportsmanship Award
  • Bicentennial Athletic League Coach of the Year

Doug has led more than 100 camps and clinics for both coaches and athletes in the past 20 years.  

Doug also has his share of playing experience.  He has retired from playing the sport competitively but used to be rated a AA outdoor grass player and an indoor A player.  Indoor, Doug specialized as a setter running a 5-1 for his league teams.  Doug also played on the Widener University Men’s club team in multiple positions during his tenure with the team.

 

PICKLEBALL

Doug has played the sport of pickleball for several years and has a solid history in the racquet sports of racquetball and table tennis.  Doug become certified with PPR (Professional Pickleball Registry), “Official Education and Certification Partner of USAPA”.  To that end, Doug has begun teaching both youth and adult beginners and improvers to help them better their game.

 

 

Doug was formerly a PIAA basketball official before becoming a dedicated coach to the great sport of volleyball.
